A party built from the ground up.

The South Australian Socialist Party was founded because neither Labor nor Liberal represent the interests of ordinary South Australians. While rents soar, wages stagnate, and the climate breaks down, both major parties answer to the same donors.

We believe in a society where housing is a right, not an investment. Where workers share in the profits they create. Where the energy system is publicly owned and the transition is just. Where education is free at every level.

We are building a democratic, member-led party from scratch. Every policy decision is made by members. Every donation is transparent. We take no corporate money.

PEOPLE OVER PROFIT.

Our four pillars.

Bold, concrete policies — not vague promises. Here's exactly what we'll fight for.

Housing for all

Housing is a human right. We will end the crisis through public ownership and rent controls.

  • Large-scale public housing construction
  • Cap rent increases at inflation
  • Tax vacant investment properties
  • Abolish no-fault evictions

Workers' rights

The people who do the work should share in its rewards. Full stop.

  • Living wage of $25/hr minimum
  • Strengthen right to strike
  • End gig economy exploitation
  • Four-day work week transition

Climate action

The climate crisis is a class issue. Those with the least cause it least and suffer most.

  • Publicly owned renewable energy
  • No new fossil fuel projects in SA
  • Just transition for affected workers
  • Free public transport

Free education

An educated population benefits everyone. Education should never be a debt sentence.

  • Abolish HECS/student debt
  • Free TAFE and university
  • No state funding for elite private schools
  • Raise teacher pay to attract talent

Join the party.

We need 200 enrolled South Australian members to register. Be one of our founders.

Who can join?

Anyone who supports our values can become a member. To count toward our official registration with the ECSA, you need to be enrolled to vote in South Australia.

What does membership cost?

Membership is free while we are building toward registration. Once registered, there will be a small optional suggested contribution — but we will never turn anyone away for inability to pay.

What will I actually do?

Members vote on policy, elect the leadership, and help with organising, campaigning, and outreach. This is a member-run party — your voice shapes everything we do.

Under 18?

You can absolutely join and be active. Only the formal ECSA registration requires enrolled voters, but there's no age limit on membership or participation.
